David Choe

March 12, 2011
David Choe (born 1976, Los Angeles, California) is an American painter, muralist and graffiti artist of Korean descent. He achieved art world success with his "dirty style" figure paintings—raw, frenetic works which combine themes of desire, degradation, and exaltation. Outside of galleries, he is closely identified with the bucktoothed whale he has been spray-painting on the streets since he was in his teens.

"Rarely do we see a street artist with the skills and complexity of David Choe. Rapidly establishing himself as one of the greats of the genre, Choe is compellingly repulsive. His complex and pulchritudinous pictures, seductive, appealing and ambitious yet equally mischievous, brutal and insular demonstrate what an angry, intelligent talent can truly achieve."

I'm inspired by how this dynamic Artist expresses himself. The colors and creativeness amaze me. His strong personality and worry free spirit has gotten him where he is today.  Sometimes worrying about what others may or may not think can create a barrier to progress in what we truly love or envision. Todays post is all about believing in who we are. We are all given the gift of talent. My goal is to explore the world and find my new hidden talents. I hope to inspire at least one person to do the same.
